The ROUTEWISE functions are provided through both a friendly desktop user interface for authority staff, utilising GIS technology where appropriate, and an internet interface for use by the general public where beneficial. As a modern living product, ROUTEWISE has already evolved to meet the requirements of PTI 2000 and the new concessionary travel schemes and is well on the way to meeting the requirements of PTI 2002.

Senior members of Anite's ROUTEWISE team are active in setting standards, as coordinators of the ATCO suppliers group and via their heavy involvement in the development of the TRANSXCHANGE standard. This was recently unveiled as the basis for electronic bus registration and the likely successor to ATCO CIF. Knowledge gained from working with many local authorities means that the ROUTEWISE product is backed by consultancy and advice, contributing to the spread of best practice.
