Time taken to apply security patches by IT departments has decreased according to security vendor Qualys.

The patches relate to security vulnerabilities, viruses or worms.

Average time taken has dropped from 30 days to 19 days in the last two years for patching half the external system

Patching half the internal system now takes 48 days, down from 52.

A point of concern is that 80% of security exploits appear before companies have patched their systems.
