Domain name system attacks are increasing according to the Internet Storm Centre (ISC) at the SANS Institute. Considering they were only reported the first time last month, they are spreading fast. Poisoned enterprise servers direct users to different web IP addresses, where their details can be logged, malware downloaded . The user will even have typed in the correct address. Once infected, crooks can collect all the data they want. Good old Windows is being blamed as the route on to machines. Older versions such as NT4 or Windows 2000 pre-SP3 are not protected automatically against DNS poisoning. |
