Postini, has been positioned in the leader quadrant in Gartner's Email Security Boundary1 HO5 Magic Quadrant. Vendors were evaluated on both the ability to execute and vision categories.

According to Gartner, Leaders are performing well today, have a clear vision of market direction and are actively building competencies to sustain their leadership position in the market.

By the end of 2006 there will only be a handful of credible enterprise email security boundary vendors, comments Gartner in the report.

Vendors in the Magic Quadrant have their own capabilities to block or filter unwanted email traffic, provide email virus scanning and offer basic email intrusion prevention capabilities. The ability to execute factors such as financials, strength of channel, marketing and brand are extremely important indicators for success. Vendors in the visionary category were evaluated on criteria including a full range of functionality that enterprises require for effective spam filtering, management and reporting capabilities, value-added anti-virus capabilities, email encryption, and outbound content filtering.

Seven categories in terms of vision were evaluated by Gartner:-
