Webroot Anti-Spyware

Webroot Software, a vendor of anti-spyware software has joined the Network Admission Control (NAC) program. NAC is an initiative based on Cisco technologies and is a set of technologies and solutions to enforce security policy compliance.

NAC itself is part of the wider Cisco Self-Defending Network.

Spy Sweeper Enterprise, Webroot's flagship product will be integrated with the Cisco Trust Agent to defend against spyware, including system monitors, keyloggers, trojans and remote threads in core processes and rootkits.

Cisco is pleased to have Webroot participating in this collaborative industry program, said Russell Rice, director of product marketing in the Security Technology Group at Cisco Systems, Inc. "Webroot's Spy Sweeper Enterprise enhances the NAC program, and will help provide IT organizations a strong toolset for helping to defend against a variety of threats including malicious attacks, adware, system intrusion and spyware."

Webroot claim that the sort of malicious software it protects against is found on 7 percent of desktops. Sarbanes-Oxley, HIPAA and Gramm-Leach-Billey can all be compromised because of inaccurate protection of company information.
