A case involving overcharging against Microsoft has been dismissed. The lawsuit was from a group of cities and counties in California. The public authorities, including San Francisco, could only sue under one of two laws they cited. However, the judge said that claims under the one law they could use, had expired anyway. The one glimmer of hope for the authorities was that the judge said they launch claims for more recently purchased software. They had alleged that the overcharging was ongoing. A similar class action by consumers and businesses last year, ended in a settlement from Microsoft. |
