Palisade Systems has released PacketSure 4.0 We have reprinted the blurb for PacketSure. Palisade claims the system protects the network regardless of the network protocols used. PacketSure helps organizations ensure compliance with the increasing number of legislative and industry-specific regulations such as HIPAA, Gramm-Leach-Bliley, and Sarbanes-Oxley, said Kurt Shedenhelm, president and CEO of Palisade Systems. Common network applications, such as e-mail, instant messenger, chat, VOIP and FTP, all use different protocols to transfer information over the network. Email, for example, utilizes HTTP for web-based email and SMTP, IMAP, POP and MIME for software-based email. Comprehensive, multi-protocol capability is critical to the effectiveness of a content security appliance, because information can leak out of a network using a variety of common and not-so-common communication protocols.
